Pete Warren Student Fellows Scholarships
The VCA Foundation sponsors the Pete Warren Student Fellows Scholarship each year. The selected Fellows are announced in the spring and recognized at the VCA Conference in the fall. Graduate students enrolled (matriculating) in a counselor education program in Virginia are eligible to apply for a VCAF Pete Warren Student Fellows Scholarship. Students should be taking coursework in the semester in which they submit an application.

Review Process
Entries for the Virginia Counselors Association Foundation Pete Warren Student Fellows Scholarship must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on March 1, 2024. Essays will be reviewed by the VCAF Board of Directors and rated on the following dimensions:
● Evidence of interest and experience in leadership for the counseling profession.
● The desire to work in Virginia after graduation.
● Evidence of academic success in graduate school.
● Knowledge and application of critical ethical values for the counseling profession.
● Evidence of the value of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice.
● Organization and appropriate grammar/mechanics.
● Students submitting entries will receive notification of whether they were awarded a scholarship by the end of the month of March each year.
Awards
Students awarded a Virginia Counselors Association Foundation Pete Warren Scholarship will receive the following:
● Paid membership in the Virginia Counselors Association for the fellowship year.
● Paid membership in the student’s VCA Chapter for the fellowship year.
● Paid membership in the student’s VCA Division, of choice, for the fellowship year.
● Paid registration for the VCA Convention for the fellowship year.
● A $100 stipend for the Convention.
● Paid registration for attendance at the VCA Leadership Academy in the year of the award.
● Recognition in VCA and VCAF publications as well as recognition at the Awards Ceremony at the VCA Convention.
